i don’t play a lot of video games but i’ve always enjoyed the simplicity of hockey. since getting hooked on ea’s nhl 94 back in the day i’ve been a fan ever since. but these games have, for the most part, become less and less entertaining year after year. With the continued letdowns from ea i converted to 2k sports in 06 and was more than thrilled about the overall feeling of these games. 2k8 is still my favorite but the sequel was a disaster though so i had to wait another year to see if 2k could redeem themselves… they didn’t. during this time i’ve tried to give ea a fair chance. absolutely hating nhl09 i was still interested to see what they could do. all i can say is, when i play nhl10 i still don’t get that thrill of a really good hockey game. Its not very fluid. not only that but almost everything about it is just plain annoying imho. the umpteen menus and button presses just to get to the ice is… annoying. the announcers are… annoying. what the announcers say is… annoying. the controls are annoying. the game play is even more annoying than in nhl09. they added new features, but it seems its all or nothing. getting pinned to the boards is one example. your getting pinned every time… i.e. the ai is annoying. not having a speed burst is annoying. auto-aim is crap and the manual aim is also crap. though 2k8 had its annoyances and could have been improved upon i still think it gets closest to the standard of what a video hockey game should be. people complained about the difficult controls but once you got the hang of them you had so much freedom and control. there were so many options and bells and whistles like on-the-fly coaching and special moves. in fairness, i haven’t explored nhl10 enough to know its full potential but that’s not the point. the point is i’m already disgusted by all these annoyances that i don’t care. a lot of folks will like it, just as a lot of folks will like 2ks releases… i guess i’m just too picky. do not buy it without playing the demo first.

EA Sports has a hard time working out the issues with every title they attempt to add new features. While the new boards play feature would have been a great addition to the game, it has crashed/froze my game multiple times now, forcing me to restart the game I was playing and lose the stats I had acquired in the game. After asking for help from EA Sports, I was issued the usual cut and paste answer I would get with the NHL08 issues. If you are like me and Love nothing other than the sport of ice hockey, DON’T BUY NHL10. Keep playing NHL09 and wait for NHL11. Hopefully by then, they might have the new features fixed and will not add anything else that might and probably will crash the game.

Dont waste your money on this. I have NHL 2008 for ps3 and skipped out on 2009 edition after playing the demo and seeing that not much changed. So I waited for 2010 then bought it. Well totally disapointed. Only cool thing is you can delete the in game music and put whatever you like by saving it to the ps3 then uploading. other than that, this game sucks. its not fun and just boring. When playing the shootout, I can score goals but alot of the times the computer will score garbage goals right after i score. then lets say it goes to a shootout, you cant change the sucky angle that you do the shootout . it is the worst angle possible and i have yet to even score a god dam goal during the shootout. the graphics are the same as 2008, nothing fantastic for a game that is 2 yrs older. overall , this is definately not worth the 55 i paid, not to mention how sucky amazon has become to charge us tax now to take something that could of been a decent deal to no deal at all.

dont buy this sucky game. in fact, i regret buying ps3 . all the games suck. they have yet to come out with something good other than the 2 call of duty games. the rest are garbage.

I haven’t had the problems that everyone else has had. But the thing about playing a game is that you start on easy the move on up to more difficult settings when you improve. This game cheats you can barely win a fight the scoring part is extremely hard and you can only check when the computer decides to let you. Personally I like to put a smackdown on these idiot programmers. Its to bad NHL 2k9 sucked so bad i would have bought that one
